What to expect in my classes:
I try to incorporate a lot of high energy sequences followed by deep relaxation to conclude the practice.
Favorite type of yoga:
I love backbending asanas that open up the heart chakra. My favorite pose is Raja Bhujangasana, or King Cobra pose!

During my freshman year of college, I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and I found myself unable to exercise or even stay awake for long periods of time. A friend suggested that I try yoga, and I immediately felt the physical benefits of the practice. It didn’t take long to start noticing the mental and emotional benefits as well. I was beginning to discover my true purpose and accept my challenges with determination. I wanted to find a way to heal myself, and yoga turned out to do just that. With a daily practice of yoga and mindfulness for about five years, yoga has changed the way I view the world and I have changed my health in a way I never thought possible. I faded off all my prescriptions, and in August of 2017 I was told by my doctor that I had “cured myself.”
I teach yoga to share my love of the practice with as many people as possible, hoping that their journey is just as successful and transformative as mine. I am a special education teacher, and meditation has been an invaluable tool that I use both in my daily life and with my students. I am in the process of completing my yoga education to become a 500 hour teacher, and all of my training has been through Awaken Yoga. I am also a Kidding Around Yoga certified kids yoga teacher.
