I found yoga during my sophomore year at Lake Erie College, where an Awaken Yoga student was holding a weekly yoga club. Like many yogis, I started practicing to gain flexibility and find relaxation. I learned very quickly that yoga is so much more than that– it’s the harmonization of the mind, body, and spirit. As I continued practicing, I found that my symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and vasovagal syncope decreased significantly. In addition to this, I began to grow through a journey of mindfulness and self-care.
Yoga had impacted my life in such a positive way that I knew I wanted to be an instructor not long after I began a consistent practice; I wanted to give to others what my teachers gave to me- a journey of the self through yoga. With this in mind, I completed my 200 hour Hatha certification and 200 hour Vinyasa certification with Awaken Yoga in 2016. I am currently teaching Vinyasa classes at Awaken Yoga and plan to continue growing as a yoga student and teacher. In my classes you’ll be sure to laugh, flow, learn, and maybe even sweat 😉
